The Play Sun Smart™ program is a public service partnership that teams the American Academy of Dermatology (Academy) with Major League Baseball (MLB), and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) to educate players, teams, staff and fans about the importance of skin cancer prevention and detection. Play Sun Smart™ has come a long way, with many to thank for the success of such a positive message reaching audiences nationwide.

Thanks to the steadfast commitment of MLB Headquarters, MLBPA, and MLB teams, the Play Sun Smart™ program is a great success. A special appreciation goes to our partners for their support of an commitment to the program. MLB has generously placed a full-page ad in USA Today since 2005, allowed the Academy to participate in FanFest, where baseball fans are screened, and officially launched the start of the program during the baseball season.
